DEL. BOB MARSHALL’S 68% SWEEPS MANASSAS TEA PARTY STRAW POLL

The Manassas Tea Party conducted a straw poll at its meeting Tuesday evening (Feb. 7) and proved that folks who know Delegate Bob Marshall best favor him by more than 2 to 1 for the 2012 Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate.

Marshall (R. 13th District), who has represented the Manassas area in the Virginia House of Delegates continuously since 1992, garnered an overwhelming 68% of the votes in the straw poll, far outpacing other candidates seeking the GOP’s Senate nomination.

In a news release issued today (Feb. 8), Craig Summers, chairman of the Manassas Tea Party, said Marshall “walked away with the U.S. Senate poll.”

Summers reported the following breakdown of the straw poll’s results:

- Bob Marshall 68%
- George Allen 23%
- McCormick 5%
- Jamie Radtke 0%
- E.W. Jackson 0%

Ex-Gov. Tim Kaine, the Virginia Democrats’ presumptive U.S. Senate nominee, received 5 per cent of the Manassas straw poll’s ballot.

On Jan. 26, Marshall carried a straw poll with 43% of the ballots cast at a meeting of the Shenandoah Valley Tea Party in Harrisonburg – 13% more than the nearest contender.
